Need for cartilage insertion
The need to add cartilage is quite common in Revision Rhinoplasty. If the amount of natural cartilage in the nose was not adequately preserved or insufficient in the initial surgery, additional cartilage may be required to reshape the nose. This cartilage tissue can usually be obtained from the patient’s own ear, rib or previously removed nasal cartilage. Cartilage from the patient’s own body is preferred to provide a more natural and harmonious appearance, while minimizing the risk of complications such as tissue rejection.
